A well known economics law is that of Supply and Demand and, since real life seems to be taking on cartoon proportions, there currently seems to be plenty of material for the political cartoonist.

Taken from the French word for “strong heavy paper”, as used by artists for preliminary sketches, “carton” was changed to “cartoon”  and a new form of social comment emerged.

When words fail us, the great skill of balancing the cause and effect of politics, in a seemingly straightforward impression that is accessible to all, has to be admired especially when irony and metaphor are used to caricature events through a universal language.
